“Rex” is Latin for “king”, and we strive to treat you as such at our restaurant. The Rex – “Where we feed you good and treat you right”. Offering the best in country cooking and southern service. The owner is Rick Barker, a local businessman and entrepreneur, former County Jailer, 911 Director, and current owner and Principal Broker of GODBY Realty & Auction. Rex is Rick’s dog, so really the restaurant has two owners, because we all take orders from Rex and not the other Barker. A very, very good friend of Rick’s passed away, and had always asked him “if anything ever happens, promise you’ll take care of the dog”. Rick has done just that for nearly four years now. When opening the restaurant, Rick wanted a good name, and a short name. He thought The Rex would be fitting – and that’s the name.

We offer a large menu including our best sellers – Country Style Catfish, Roast Beef Manhattan, Chicken & Dumplings, and Meatloaf. We make as much as we can from scratch each morning. We’re also very proud of our homemade cream pies – made each day in our pie shop, and whole pies are available on request. Another dessert favorite is our Banana Bread Bomb made in our ice cream shoppe.

If you are looking for a fine homecooked meal, in southern hospitality style – join us and experience The Rex.

This unique restaurant in Nancy Ky. Is a place to try when you are in the area. The menu is pretty diverse and I chose the pork bbq fries as my lunch. Justin our server arrived in about 10 minutes along with dishes for 3 others eating with me. The food was great tasting and piping hot. Four of us ate for right at $40 not bad at all. Give them a try, I am very confident you’ll enjoy this place… and tell them Rex Barker sent you.

This is a great restaurant. We got the fish dinner & it was excellent, large portions. The menu has a lot to choose from. I’ll definitely go back.

Farm to table country cooking at its best! Great family restaurant! Cooked fresh daily chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, fried green tomatoes, Mac and tomato and daily choices of freshly baked cream pies ( chocolate, butterscotch, peanut butter, lemon).

This place was the bomb. As soon as we walked in they called for a party of two and we were quickly taken to our table. It wasn’t packed when we got there but after we were seated it began to fill up quick. I picked the roast beef Manhattan with green beans and the Mrs tried the catfish dinner. They were both so good. We thought about dessert but decided to try that on the next visit. If you go arrive early cause it fills up quick!!

The food wasn’t the best. Our fries seemed like they had been out for a while. They cover a lot of their food with a nacho cheese that really is bland. I think they have the right idea going, but the food looks way better than what it tastes. The customer service also has areas for improvement. For the quality of the food, we thought it was very expensive. Our home cooked meals are better than the restaurant. Restrooms were not the cleanest. We did like the style of the inside of their restaurant. And the pictures of the dog Rex was cute.

The food seems expensive but we got our money’s worth. The room is loud from all the conversations and few softness to buffer the sound. It is a very relaxed setting with high end service. The food was PHENOMENAL! The manager gave us additional catfish fillets. We will be back.

From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a warm hello and a smile. It’s has a very southern feel and I mean that in all the best way. The owner was greeting everyone and making you feel like family. The wait was very short. The menu isn’t all that big but the food makes up for it with a very big flavor. The portion sizes are enough that it makes for a good value.Oh! Don’t forget the homemade pie!
